Meryl has accomplished what I thought was impossible: she has turned my core and glutes ON. At 57, I’ve always struggled with a weak core, but Meryl patiently identified the exercises that work best for me. Her deep knowledge and genuine passion for teaching are very motivating. She is fully engaged during each session, collaborating with me to determine what is effective and making challenges feel achievable. I’ve celebrated small victories along the way, and now, after each session, I leave feeling strong and uplifted. Between sessions, I can feel my pelvic floor strengthening, and I’ve learned how to engage my core in everyday movements. I am truly grateful for Meryl's Pilates.

Working with Meryl has been literally life-changing. She not only helped me alleviate the back pain and slouchy posture that brought me to her in the first place, but she also showed me how easy it is to incorporate pilates into my everyday routine, even as a working mom of young children. My family is already used to seeing me doing glute kick-backs while making pancakes on Sunday morning or tricep push-ups while watching the kids play on the floor nearby. Over the past year, I not only became significantly stronger, but I find myself exercising throughout the day and actually enjoying it. Meryl's encouragement to do just a few exercises at a time makes the schedule very manageable, so I get that feeling of accomplishment every single day. What's even more amazing is that it no longer feels uncomfortable to stand and walk with a straight posture - in fact, I no longer have to think about it. I love that Meryl eases me into each new exercise and adds more complexity as I master each one. She is a pleasure to work with and pushes me to grow with every session. I am someone who has worked out inconsistently most of my life, but after being done having kids and having the pregnancies take a real toll on my body, I had decided that I finally wanted to commit to getting into shape after my diastasis recti corrective surgery and abdominoplasty and before I turn 40. A good friend referred me and now that I met Meryl, I am hooked both on Pilates and her! Meryl is a true expert in her field. She is knowledgeable and patient. It took me some time to get the connections between the exercises and the breathing, as well as the coordination. Meryl was so supportive along the way, constantly reassuring me that it’s going to get better each time and that I was doing great. I cannot believe the progress I’ve made. I have tried different things in the past, including trainers, but I just haven’t felt truly comfortable with anyone before I met Meryl. She is a pleasure to work with – completely non-judgmental of where you are in your exercise journey. She is sweet and encouraging, making the hard work seem less so because of her fun personality!

I’ve had serious chronic pain my whole adulthood from playing the violin since I was four years old. It is a physically demanding and unnatural instrument to play, therefore there are multiple injuries associated with professional violinists. I’ve tried virtually every type of physical therapy in order to offset the pain associated with these repetitive injuries. These therapies have been helpful as temporary bandages to allow me to continue playing with tolerable pain. As I age, physical therapy and massage have not been enough to keep my pain at bay.
Meryl was recommended to me by a fellow musician, who received immense relief from her pain through Pilates taught by Meryl. As I started to work with Meryl, the relief from pain was dramatic. The absence of pain can be euphoric. But at the start, the pain only subsided very temporarily. As we continued to work and as I became stronger, I was able to keep the absence of pain away longer with the home exercises she assigned to me for the week. It has been about two months and I feel like I have some control over my pain at this point. I have to be diligent and do the home exercises, and if I do, I feel tangible relief and freedom. I look forward to becoming stronger and more permanently pain-free as I continue with these exercises and seeing Meryl.
I would like to add a very important note. Meryl has been extremely caring, attentive, and empathetic to whatever pain I’ve brought to her. She’s worked hard to figure out which exercises work best for me and my personal pain, and has provided me an environment of support, and confidence and trust in her abilities as an instructor.

Frustrated by chronic aches and pains in my heel and hip, Meryl set about to fix me! Her tenacity and determination paid off and I am pain free today. She listened carefully, researched extensively, experimented creatively and came up with a combination of exercises, stretches and adjustments I could make to my posture that made all the difference. She took a holistic approach and really worked hard to understand what was causing the problem. I learned a lot along the way and am so grateful to Meryl for really caring and designing a highly customized (and effective!) treatment plan.

I am not one to enjoy exercising, but I always look forward to my sessions with Meryl. She knows what I feel comfortable doing, as I am usually afraid to try new exercises, and she always introduces them slowly so I feel safe. I have been working with Meryl for over four years and I feel stronger and better after each session!
